What happens

Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar arrives in Green Pass, Virginia to investigate the death of county attorney Dan Parker, who was shot by his daughter Luann in what the coroner ruled accidental death. A $100,000 insurance claim hangs in the balance as Dollar interviews Luann and discovers the town unanimously supports her, while only a disgruntled man named Sammy Drake speaks against her. Luann recounts the night of the shooting, when she heard prowlers on the terrace and retrieved her father's gun to reach the telephone downstairs.
