What happens

Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar arrives in the small town of Green Pass, Virginia to investigate the death of county attorney Dan Parker, who was shot by his stepdaughter Luann Parker. While the local sheriff calls it an accident—the girl mistook her father for a prowler—the $100,000 insurance policy and some curious circumstances make Don Hancock suspicious enough to send Dollar to dig deeper.

Green Pass, Virginia, a small town of 12,000 people in the wooded hills, three miles from the nearest railroad station. The action centers on the Parker home and the town's single hotel and pool room.

Characters: Johnny Dollar, Don Hancock, Jake Diggly, Sheriff Jim Peterson, Luann Parker, Dan Parker, Mary Jackson

Listen for: The suspicious timing of Dan Parker's unexpected return from Richmond, his unusual decision to walk home alone at night instead of arranging a ride, and the perfect accuracy of Luann's shots fired down a dark stairway in complete darkness—details that hint the case may be more complicated than a simple accident.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
