What happens
Johnny Dollar, an insurance investigator for Eternity Mutual, looks into missing funds from the company's San Francisco office, where claims adjuster Ed Morgan has apparently taken about $80,000 in the months before his death. Dollar's old friend Ed had lived an unexpectedly extravagant life at the Drakely Arms, and Dollar begins by visiting the building's bartender, Ed's regular companion Nikki Barrett, and Ed's former secretary Lisa Duvall. Each gives a different picture of Ed's final months, and Dollar starts to question what he really knew about his friend. This is the second episode of the Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar series, broadcast on CBS Radio on September 11, 1956, starring Bob Bailey.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
