What happens
Johnny Dollar, an insurance investigator, arrives early one morning for breakfast with Betty Lewis at her new house on East Maple Drive. A hot rod with a loud backfire roars past every morning at eight o'clock, and Johnny becomes suspicious of it. He traces the car's license, which turns out to be false, and follows tire marks to an isolated shack in Barley Swamp. Johnny is captured by two men there and tied up. The episode is part of the Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar series, first broadcast on CBS Radio on September 6, 1959, starring Bob Bailey.

Characters: Johnny Dollar, Betty Lewis, Barton Jay Robinson, Jerry Wilson
Listen for: The loud backfire of the hot rod on the road each morning at eight o'clock, and the false license number Johnny discovers.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
