What happens

Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar arrives to interview Arthur Boldrick, who has been shot during an apparent carjacking attempt in his backyard. As Johnny gathers statements from Boldrick and neighborhood witnesses, a troubling picture emerges: while Boldrick claims a stranger in work clothes shot him while demanding his car keys, witnesses report seeing a car drive away from the scene but no man running through the alley, casting doubt on Boldrick's account of events.

A rundown neighborhood in an older part of town, centered around Boldrick's single-story house with a garage facing an alley, and a local police station.

Characters: Johnny Dollar, Arthur Boldrick, Dr. Stone, Sergeant Wright, Mrs. Boldrick, Mr. Wheeler, Mrs. Cole

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
