What happens

Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Dennis Day continue their car trip toward Yosemite. Rochester drives over a steep hill, and the group stops at a roadside lunchroom where Dennis finds one of his own records on a jukebox. Jack argues with a talking parrot, and Rochester buys a new tire without asking. Phil Harris, traveling in his own car, races the group down the road, and the two cars end up at the roadside with a police officer. The group reaches the Yosemite park gate after it has closed for the night, and they settle down in the car to wait out the rain.

A car trip from Oakland toward Yosemite National Park, with roadside stops, a lunchroom, and the park gate at night.

Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Rochester, Dennis Day, Phil Harris, Don Wilson

Listen for: Rochester's tire purchase and the parrot exchange at the lunchroom.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
