What happens

Jack Benny hosts his radio variety program, with announcer Don Wilson, Dennis Day, Mel Blank, and Bob Crosby on hand. Jack and Dennis trade jokes and songs, and Jack passes along a request from Bob to attend the grand opening of a large new supermarket. The main feature is a comedy sketch parodying the Technicolor adventure Wings of the Hawk. Jack plays Irish Gallagher, a gold prospector in Mexico during a revolution, who teams up with his partner Don Carlos. They meet a cruel colonel, a wounded rebel leader named Raquel, and a bandit gang, and the sketch is full of mock-serious dialogue and running gags. The sketch and broadcast continue beyond this point.

A radio studio broadcast of the Jack Benny program, then a comedy sketch set in Mexico during a time of revolution.

Characters: Jack Benny, Don Wilson, Dennis Day, Mary Livingstone, Bob Crosby, Mel Blank, Irish Gallagher, Don Carlos

Listen for: Jack Benny's exchanges with Don Wilson and Dennis Day, and the parody of Wings of the Hawk with its mock-dramatic prospecting scenes.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
