What happens

Jack Benny hosts a Chevrolet-sponsored broadcast from the 1933 season, opening with a boast about Chevrolet sales and then a comic mock prize-fight account of a bout between Smelling and Bear, relayed by Jack Cunnick. Next comes a parody of Sherlock Holmes in which Benny, as Holmes, and Watson work with Mary Livingstone and Rochester to track down the murderer of a Mr. X. A clue-seller points them toward a suspicious flyer, and Holmes, Watson and Mary set off in an airplane to follow him, but a storm and fog cause trouble. Eddie Anderson plays Rochester and Phil Harris is also among the cast, and the show airs on NBC and CBS Radio on June 9, 1933.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
