What happens
Jack Benny presents a comedic murder mystery in which the wealthy landlord Mr. X is found dead in his penthouse, and the Chevrolet sponsor's commercials are woven into the sketch. Jack, Mary Livingstone and Phil Harris gather to discuss the case, and Jack proposes calling in Sherlock Holmes, who arrives with Dr. Watson. Holmes works from elementary deductions, theorizing that a gorilla may have climbed the Empire State Building. The story heads to the building's tower, where the detectives confront a giant ape carrying a woman. The program is part two of a serial that began the previous Friday, and it is broadcast in 1933 on NBC and CBS Radio.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
