What happens

Jack Benny and Mary Livingstone leave a movie theater after seeing a film about a man shown what the world would be like had he never been born. Jack finds the story too far-fetched, and the two run into director Frank Capra on the street. Back home, Jack is visited by a mysterious guardian angel who promises to show him a world without himself in it. The angel takes Jack on a series of unsettling trips, in which familiar people from Jack's life appear with different lives, or as strangers entirely. This program was broadcast on February 2, 1947, on NBC and CBS Radio, and starred Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris.

A city street and a movie theater, then Jack's home, followed by a series of imagined locations including a department store, NBC studios, a Kentucky tobacco plantation, and a Nashville nightclub.

Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Rochester, Frank Capra, Guardian Angel, Dennis Day, Don Wilson, Fred Allen

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
