What happens
Jack Benny is confronted after his radio broadcast by a wiseacre who admits he was knocked out and brought to the studio to fill the audience seats. Benny and his cast, including Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day and Rochester, bicker about the program and the studio audience, while Benny frets about turning thirty-eight. Benny's show, a 1947 episode of the Jack Benny program, airs on NBC with the lead actors Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris.
A radio studio in Hollywood, and later the streets, a drugstore and Benny's home.
Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day, Rochester, Don Wilson
Listen for: Benny's arguments with Phil Harris over his conduct on the bandstand, and the comic mix-up over the telegram from H.V. Kaltenborn.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
