What happens
Jack Benny hosts a broadcast from the Naval Air Station at Terminal Island, California, joined by Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day and Don Wilson. Jack jokes about his Navy past and his poor showing on a quiz program, while Dennis brings his girlfriend, Dorothy Lamour, to meet the cast. Rochester phones Jack about a horse he bought, and Dennis sings a song dedicated to Dorothy. The show then turns to a sketch about the Twink family, in which Clarabelle Twink is paid at the shipyard, and her husband Oglethorpe tries to spend her money while she is upstairs with the children. Recorded in 1942, the episode is part of the Jack Benny radio series.
A Naval Air Station at Terminal Island, California, and later the Twink cottage and a downtown shopping street.
Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day, Don Wilson, Rochester, Dorothy Lamour, Oglethorpe Twink
Listen for: Jack's exchange with Dennis and Dorothy Lamour, and Oglethorpe Twink's conversation with his conscience while Clarabelle is upstairs.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
