What happens

Jack Benny, newly elected sidewalk inspector of Beverly Hills, jokes with Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day, Rochester and Don Wilson on the Grape Nuts Flakes Program, first broadcast on November 8, 1942 over NBC and CBS Radio. Mary reads a letter from her mother about a visit to New York and a stone house in Plainfield said to have once been slept in by George Washington. The cast then performs an original one-act sketch by Don Wilson about the Twink family of Glendale, California, in which Mr. Twink, played by Jack Benny, waits for his wife Clarabelle to come home from her night shift at an aircraft factory. Dennis Day sings a Christmas song, and Benny later buys an old horse from a dealer at the studio.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
