What happens

Jack Benny is in trouble with his sponsor, Mr. Jones, after missing last week's broadcast because of a time change. Jack argues with Mr. Jones by phone while the switchboard operators eavesdrop, and the sponsor threatens to end the program. Jack keeps the show, hires a publicity man named Steve, and rehearses the broadcast with Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris and Rochester. Their sketch, a spoof about a newspaper editor investigating a murder, is in honor of National Newspaper Week. Series: Jack Benny. Original air date: October 7, 1945. Lead actors: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
