What happens

Jack Benny returns to the Santa Barbara base to entertain servicemen, trading jokes with Don Wilson, Mary Livingstone and Phil Harris. Jack then recounts his overseas trip to Germany to a sergeant from the base newspaper, beginning with his departure from the airport. Mary and Rochester see him off, and Rochester is left with a list of chores and warnings about parties. The episode then turns to a dramatic play in which Ingrid Bergman, as Paula, is driven to doubt her sanity by her husband Charles, while Joseph Cotton arrives as a detective. The story is part of the Jack Benny series, broadcast on NBC and CBS Radio in October 1945, starring Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
