What happens
Jack Benny opens his season premiere on a busy Sunday afternoon, as he rushes to get ready for his first broadcast of the year. Mixed-up watches, a late arrival from his valet Rochester, and an absent bandleader Phil Harris leave him nervous and confused. Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Don Wilson are all around the studio as the show time approaches. A publicity man named Steve Bradley also appears, promising to make Benny famous across the country. This 1945 episode of the Jack Benny series first aired on September 30, 1945, on NBC and CBS Radio, starring Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
