What happens

Jack Benny wakes late and rushes to rehearsal, but his car trouble and a parking problem delay him further. At the studio, Dennis Day rehearses a song while Bob Crosby's band is short of members, and the cast prepares a comic version of The Snows of Kilimanjaro, with Don Wilson playing a dramatic lead. The sketch opens in the African jungle, where a hero lies sick and cared for by his companion. This is the Jack Benny Program, first broadcast on March 8, 1953, on NBC and CBS Radio, starring Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris.

Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Rochester, Dennis Day, Bob Crosby, Don Wilson

Listen for: Jack's car troubles and parking-lot exchange with Rochester, and Don Wilson's over-serious delivery in the Snows of Kilimanjaro sketch

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
