What happens

Jack Benny, recovering from influenza, travels with his valet Rochester to Palm Springs on his doctor's advice to rest in the sunshine. On the drive he jokes with Rochester about flat tires and the car's route, and later he spends a day by the pool with Mary Livingstone. Benny then plays golf with Bob Crosby, where the two trade barbs over a disputed hole and a questionable shot. The broadcast closes with a dramatized history of Palm Springs, told as a comic western-style tale of two lost explorers, Tex and Slim, who wander the desert and meet a series of strange characters. The program is part of the Jack Benny series, first aired on March 15, 1953, and it features Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
