What happens

Jack Benny and Mary Livingstone visit a Hollywood drugstore lunch counter before a live broadcast, where Jack, Mary and Don Wilson become entangled with the counter staff and a string of odd orders. Jack insists on a malted milk with a raw egg and keeps asking for aspirin, while Kenny Baker and Phil Harris drop in and tease him. The crew argues over Jack's weight, the rivalry with Fred Allen, and Phil's supposed new program. The broadcast is from January 15, 1939 on NBC and CBS Radio, with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris in the lead roles.

Listen for: The lunch counter orders, Jack's aspirin requests, and the running argument over Fred Allen and Phil Harris's proposed show.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
