What happens
Jack Benny and his friends leave a neighborhood theatre after a special showing of Danny Kaye's new picture, The Kid from Brooklyn. Jack, who has never warmed to Kaye's work, argues with Mary Livingstone and Dennis Day about the film and about Kaye's earlier picture, Wonder Man. Jack and Dennis part ways, and on the street Jack runs into Kaye himself, who is in a cheerful mood and seems eager to talk about future projects. Their conversation keeps shifting as Jack goes back and forth between praise and teasing. The episode is part of the Jack Benny radio series, first broadcast on April 28, 1946.
A city street and neighborhood after a movie showing, with later scenes at Jack Benny's home.
Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Dennis Day, Phil Harris, Danny Kaye, Rochester
Listen for: Jack Benny's exchanges with Danny Kaye on the street, and his mixed reactions to Kaye's films.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
