What happens
Jack Benny prepares to leave Beverly Hills with his company for a three-week trip to Chicago and New York, and his household helps him pack. His valet Rochester sorts through the luggage and medicines, while Mary Livingstone waits on her own packing. The group gathers at the train station, where the family, the staff and a publicity man see the travelers off. This Jack Benny episode was first broadcast on May 5, 1946, on NBC and CBS Radio, starring Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris.
Jack Benny's home in Beverly Hills, then Union Station, and the train bound for Chicago
Characters: Jack Benny, Rochester, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day, Donald, Ed, Steve Bradley
Listen for: Rochester's packing mix-ups, Mary Livingstone's mock-serious purse trouble, and the station scene as the train pulls out
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
