What happens

Jack Benny opens his 1934 episode with a parade of comic testimonials from his butcher, lawyer, doctor, barber and others, then turns to a discussion with Don Wilson and Frank Parker about banks, money and a bankers' convention in Washington. Mary Livingstone joins the banter about saving money for a rainy day. The show then moves to a golf interview with a champion player, Masha Niblick, who demonstrates trick shots. Its featured play is a parody of The Barretts of Wimpole Street, in which Jack plays the strict, jealous father Benny and Mary plays his supposedly ill daughter Elizabeth, who falls for the poet Browning, played by Frank Parker. The series is Jack Benny, the original air date is 1934-10-28, and the cast includes Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
