What happens

Jack Benny, newly named honorary mayor of Anaheim, Azusa and Cucamonga, is teased by his cast, including Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris and Rochester, over the honor. Benny declines a request from Don Wilson to rename a street after a cigarette brand, and a telegram from Fred Allen about a contest of letters about Benny arrives. Rochester phones from the three towns with reports of local unrest. The program then turns to a radio adaptation of the film State Fair, in which Benny plays Abel Frake, a farmer who enters his prize hog Blue Boy at the fair. The Jack Benny series aired on NBC and CBS Radio, and this episode is from January 20, 1946, with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
