What happens

Jack Benny opens his season premiere with his usual cast, including Mary Livingstone, Rochester, Dennis Day and Don Wilson, and banters about his age and a sea voyage. Mary reads a letter from her mother about the family's new television set and her sister Babe, while Dennis wants to sing but insists on rushing off for an appendectomy. Rochester calls about a car accident, and Bob Crosby's musicians tease one another. The cast then sets up a parody sketch called Return to Paradise, in which Jack plays a man pursuing a native princess, Mary, on a South Sea island ruled by a suspicious chief. The sketch is still underway when the transcript ends.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
