What happens
Jack Benny, having fired his singing quartet the Sportsmen, tries to win them back after failing to find a suitable replacement. At home he drafts a conciliatory letter, but his secretary Rochester discourages him, and Mary Livingstone helps him negotiate with the group's manager, Mr. Stewart. Benny agrees to take the quartet back on the earlier terms, and the broadcast ends with the Sportsmen singing a comic tune about Benny. The Jack Benny program aired on NBC and CBS Radio on March 23, 1947, starring Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
