What happens
Jack Benny spends an evening with his regular cast of Mary Livingstone, Don Wilson, Phil Harris, Dennis Day and Rochester. Jack jokes about his role as master of ceremonies at the recent Academy Awards and about the small tips he collected at the hat check concession. Mary recounts her night at the ceremony, and Dennis sings an Irish ballad about returning home. Benny's program is broadcast on NBC and CBS Radio, with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris as the lead actors. In the later part of the show, Jack hunts for a new singing quartet to satisfy his sponsor. Several singers arrive and quarrel over their fees, and the search turns into a series of comic misunderstandings. The episode first aired on March 16, 1947.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
