What happens

Jack Benny and his cast wrap up a rehearsal and tease one another after the show. Jack drives Mary Livingstone and Rochester home in his car, and a car breakdown and a police chase follow. Later Jack reads a mystery novel called I Was Betrayed by Max Million Q Langley, and as he dozes off, the story becomes a dream about a surgeon named Dr. Schnitzenholder and his nurse, Ginger Lamar. The episode is from The Jack Benny Program, sponsored by Lucky Strike, and first aired on January 22, 1950, with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
