What happens

Jack Benny, playing himself, is in a dispute with Orson Welles over a dramatic broadcast Welles staged, and Benny suspects Welles of having caused strange sunspots that disrupted communications. Benny phones Welles to confront him, but Welles denies any involvement and the argument ends in a row. Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day and Don Wilson react to the dispute around the studio. The program then turns to a comedic adaptation of the fairy tale Pinocchio, with Benny cast as the wooden puppet, Livingstone as Mary Cricket and Harris as a vaudeville agent. The transcript covers the early scenes of this comic version, in which Benny's puppet is brought to life and begins his story.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
