What happens

Jack Benny hosts a broadcast from the Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island, Washington, in May 1944, with Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Eddie Anderson and guest Dick Haymes. The show opens with a wartime plea to conserve paper and a comic mock-genealogy of Benny's naval ancestors. Benny then wrangles with Mary over her romantic attentions and a fickle admirer named Ruby, while Haymes is offered a regular role on the program and haggles over his salary. Later the cast turns to comic bits about lost luggage and a missing dog, and the episode closes with a sketch on the invention of the airplane by Orville and Wilbur Wright.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
