What happens
Jack Benny hosts a re-broadcast of his comedy show for members of the armed forces, with Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Rochester and Don Wilson. Benny tries to tell jokes to a heckler who wanders in, and a feud develops with Fred Allen over a stolen gag. Phil Harris complains that he is not introduced properly, and Rochester is sent to fetch Benny's overcoat. A soldier, Private First Class Luther Balliet, sings a song for the audience. Later, Benny, Livingstone and the others go on a hike with the soldiers, the day turns into a long walk, and they wander off the trail.
A wartime broadcast of the Jack Benny Show, with a studio audience of soldiers, and later an army camp and the surrounding countryside.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
