What happens
Jack Benny broadcasts a benefit show from the Civic Auditorium in Oakland, California, for the March of Dimes, joined by Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day and Rochester. Benny jokes about his long drive from Los Angeles in his Maxwell and about the cramped vantage point of the huge audience. The cast then performs a comic mystery sketch, Murder on the Bay Bridge, in which Benny plays Captain Obenie of police headquarters and Don Wilson is his assistant. The program is part of the Jack Benny series, first aired on January 28, 1940, on NBC and CBS Radio.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
