What happens

Jack Benny and his cast return to finish a sketch cut off the air the previous two weeks. Benny complains about losing the program's ending, then goes to the control room and calls NBC about it. Meanwhile, Ronald Colman's Oscar, which Benny borrowed, has been demanded back in a telegram. The scene shifts to the Palm Springs Police Station, where Captain Obenie and Sergeant O'Wilson are called to the Racket Club, where a playboy named Carrie Carroux has been found dead. Benny, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Eddie Anderson and Dennis Day perform in this episode, which is a mystery melodrama parody broadcast on the Lucky Strike program.

A radio studio in Palm Springs, California, the control room and the Palm Springs Police Station, and the Racket Club.

Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Dennis Day, Phil Harris, Rochester, Captain Obenie, Sergeant O'Wilson, Mr. Foster

Listen for: Benny's complaints about losing the end of the show, the control room exchange with Mr. Foster, and the police investigation at the Racket Club.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
