What happens

Jack Benny, with Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Kenny Baker and Don Wilson, prepares to leave for New York for a week's break from the program, and arranges the guest lineup for his broadcast from there. He sends telegrams to bandleader Abe Lyman, who has wired an offer of his services, and he settles the music, singers and announcer for the show. Ahead of his departure, he packs his trunk, sorts out a tuxedo with the tailor Slappy, and dines out. This is the Jack Benny program of March 20, 1938, on NBC and CBS radio, sponsored by Jell-O.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
