What happens
Jack Benny hosts a Sunday night broadcast from Radio City in New York instead of his usual Hollywood studio. Abe Lyman conducts the orchestra, and Harry von Zell fills in as announcer for Don Wilson. Benny jokes about his train trip east, then welcomes guests including Bob Ripley, Fred Allen and Kate Smith. Each visitor brings their own brand of banter, with Lyman and Allen trading insults and Ripley quizzing Benny like a curiosity. The series is the Jell-O program, first broadcast on March 27, 1938, and this episode features Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris.
A radio studio at Radio City in New York, broadcasting the Jell-O program

Listen for: The running insults between Abe Lyman and Fred Allen, and Bob Ripley's odd questions to Jack Benny
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
