What happens
Jack Benny and his company set off on a personal appearance tour to Detroit and Cleveland, with the first show set for the Fox Theatre in Detroit. Before boarding, Benny packs and bickers with his valet Rochester, who reveals a new car purchase, while Don Wilson receives good news by phone. Mary Livingstone chats with Benny's secretary Pauline about Phil Harris, and Dennis Day and Phil Harris are seen around the crowded station. The episode is a lighthearted comedy of travel mishaps, with Benny and his cast trading jokes about money, stinginess and the trip ahead. The original broadcast aired on June 6, 1948 on NBC and CBS Radio, with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
