What happens

Jack Benny closes the season with a final broadcast sponsored by Jell-O, looking back over eight years with the product. The cast, including Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Eddie Anderson and Don Wilson, revisits some of the show's past sketches and running jokes. Benny opens with a brief note on gasoline rationing and conserving fuel, then turns to the cavalcade of memorable moments. Scenes recalled include Rochester's early train trip with Benny, a Buck Benny Rides Again parody, a Lost Horizon spoof, Dennis Day's first appearance on the program, and a New Year's fantasy in which the old year hands over to the new. The broadcast was originally aired on NBC and CBS Radio on May 31, 1942.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
