What happens

Jack Benny prepares to open the new season of his Grape-Nuts Flakes program on NBC/CBS Radio, broadcast on October 4, 1942. Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris set out in Benny's car to collect the cast and reach the studio, while Dennis Day and Don Wilson join the crew. Along the way the group runs into a series of mix-ups and comic misunderstandings over passes, a baby carriage and a car sign. On arrival, the cast finds the studio occupied, discovers that no scripts have been delivered, and must face the live broadcast without them.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
