What happens
Jack Benny performs on his Sunday radio show while suffering from a severe toothache, which his cast mates tease him about throughout the broadcast. Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris and Don Wilson all have their own comic bits, while Dennis Day sings and Eddie Anderson's Rochester is part of the fun. Jack finally agrees to see a dentist two blocks from the studio, and the rest of the program follows his unsettling visit to the office. The episode is part of the Jack Benny series and first aired on November 12, 1939, on NBC and CBS Radio.
A Sunday evening radio broadcast studio, and later a dentist's office two blocks away
Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Don Wilson, Dennis Day, Rochester, Mrs. Day, Dr. Allen
Listen for: Jack's toothache jokes and Phil Harris's slogans during the first half of the program
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
