What happens
Jack Benny returns to New York after three months touring army camps in Africa and the Middle East. At the airport, Mary Livingston greets him warmly, and the two head to his hotel, the Acme Plaza, with Don Wilson and Rochester. Jack tells tall tales of his travels, claiming he missed meeting several famous generals by just a few hours. Phil Harris and Dennis Day stop by the suite, and Jack gives out gifts, including a camel he has arranged to ship to Hollywood. The program is the opening show of the 1943 season and features the sponsor's cereal messages.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
