What happens
Jack Benny marks his tenth anniversary in radio on his Jell-O program, broadcast May 4, 1941, on NBC and CBS Radio. Don Wilson introduces him, and Benny, with Mary Livingstone and Phil Harris, recalls his early days in the business, including his first sponsor, a buggy whip company, and a melodramatic morning serial. Dennis Day sings, and Don Wilson presents a short playlet about a salesman and his wife. The cast also performs a violin number and a poem, and the cast presents Benny with a gift. Jack Benny and his co-stars play the lead roles.

Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day, Don Wilson, Eddie Anderson, Rochester
Listen for: Benny's account of his first sponsor, the buggy whip program, and the cast's gift to him at the end.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
