What happens

Jack Benny is at home in Beverly Hills when his orchestra leader, Phil Harris, comes to talk about the band. Benny reads letters of complaint about the music and is also told of Mary Livingstone's trip east and her plans with Dennis Day. Benny then picks up a book, I Stand Condemned, and begins reading. Part of the episode is a comic story-within-the-story about a man who meets a mysterious stranger resembling Boris Karloff. The episode is from the Jack Benny series, first broadcast on January 19, 1947, on NBC. Benny's cast includes Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson, and Phil Harris.

Listen for: Benny reading aloud from the book I Stand Condemned, and the comic narrative about the mysterious stranger

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
