What happens

Jack Benny gathers his cast for a rehearsal at his home, where he insists on strict formal procedure while Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris and Dennis Day push back. A parrot named Polly, trained to repeat a cigarette commercial, adds to the household confusion. The rehearsal breaks off, and the program then turns to a comic story about a stranger who buys a cigarette lighter for a large sum and later moves into a wealthy family's home. The episode is part of the Jack Benny radio series, and this broadcast aired on March 24, 1946.

Jack Benny's house, where the cast rehearses in the library, followed by a comic story set in a barbershop and a wealthy household.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
