What happens
Jack Benny welcomes back Dennis Day, the Irish tenor, after his two years of service in the Navy, on a St. Patrick's Day broadcast. Jack and Mary Livingstone quiz Dennis about his time at sea, and Dennis recalls his service and his navy classification. Jack then asks Dennis to sing, and Dennis obliges with a Irish song. The episode also includes a sketch parodying Fred Allen's Allen's Alley, in which Phil Harris and the cast ask passersby who the better comedian is, Fred Allen or Jack Benny. The program is part of the Jack Benny series, broadcast on March 17, 1946.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
