What happens
Jack Benny and Mary Livingstone go Christmas shopping on Hollywood Boulevard in Jack's Maxwell, which has a broken steering rod that makes it turn only left. Rochester drives while Dennis Day rides up front, and the trip becomes a string of parking troubles and a run-in with a policeman. Once they reach the stores, Jack hunts for a toy bird on a stick for Dennis and tries to buy a present for Mary, and the shopping grows more chaotic. This is an episode of the Jello program, first broadcast on December 14, 1941 on NBC and CBS Radio, starring Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
