What happens

Jack Benny hosts a comedy variety program with announcer Don Wilson and bandleader Don Bester's orchestra, featuring Mary Livingstone and singer Frank Parker. Intended guests the Marx Brothers cannot appear, so Shakespearean actor J. Barrett Whimphole performs in their place. Later, a studio murder mystery unfolds as Charlie Chan in Radio City, with Benny playing the detective at the scene of a shooting in the studio. The Jell-O series of 1934 sponsors the broadcast, which is the fifth in the new series, and the program is part of the Jack Benny series.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
