What happens
Jack Benny marks the fourth anniversary of his program on the air, and his old friends Don Bestor and Frank Parker drop in to offer congratulations. Mary Livingstone, Kenny Baker and Johnny Green also appear, and the lighthearted banter among the cast turns to horse-racing bets, a crowded dressing room and a visit from the orchestra leader. The program then turns to a backwoods drama, The Code of the Hills, which is set in the bluegrass country south of Louisville, where two families, the Bennys and the Besters, have carried on a feud for years. The broadcast presents their gunfire and the grim mood of the feud as it unfolds in the families' homes.

Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Don Bestor, Frank Parker, Kenny Baker, Johnny Green, Eddie Anderson
Listen for: The anniversary jokes and visits from guests, then the feud drama and its gunfire and cast-member banter
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
