What happens
Jack Benny and Mary Livingstone attend a special Hollywood screening of Sam Goldwyn's The Best Years of Our Lives after Benny, at first uninterested, is persuaded to go. Rochester struggles to help him dress, and a collar mishap and a stray bow tie cause delays on the way. At the theater, Benny is delighted to meet Goldwyn, who admits he once considered Benny for a dramatic role, and Benny is quick to recite Hamlet's soliloquy in the street. Afterward the group heads to dinner at the Senate Grill with Goldwyn as their guest, but the evening takes an awkward turn when the bill arrives and Benny refuses to pay it.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
