What happens
Jack Benny is nearly late for his radio broadcast after dozing off in his dressing room, and his cast scrambles to get the show on the air. Mary Livingston shows off a secondhand dress, Rochester fusses over his employer, and the band gets ready. When Dennis Day fails to show up for the program, Benny sets out to his house to find out why. The episode is a comedy built around Benny's broadcast and the people around him, with Don Wilson, Phil Harris and Eddie Anderson among the regulars. It was originally broadcast in 1954 on NBC and CBS Radio.
Jack Benny's dressing room and the radio studio before and during a broadcast, then Dennis Day's house in Los Angeles.
Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Rochester, Don Wilson, Dennis Day, Bob Crosby, Herman Nevach, Mrs. Day
Listen for: Benny's failure to show up on time and Rochester's teasing, the exchange over Dennis Day's missing from rehearsal, and the visit to the Day household.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
