What happens
Jack Benny hosts his Jell-O program in Los Angeles, where Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Don Wilson and Kenny Baker join him. Columnist Ed Sullivan arrives at the studio to question Benny after radio rival Fred Allen claimed a different man, Maxwell Stroud, has been posing as Jack Benny. The show then presents a comic hotel mystery set in a small Pennsylvania inn, where guests check in, odd requests are made, and a man named Maxwell Stroud registers for the night. Originally broadcast on March 26, 1939, on NBC and CBS radio, the series starred Jack Benny.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
