What happens
Jack Benny plans a double date with two girls, but Dennis Day cancels, so Bob Hope takes his place on the outing. Benny and Hope pick up the two women, Mabel and Gertrude, for a picnic. The day turns awkward as the group sets out, with Hope and the women sizing each other up and Benny trying to keep things pleasant. Benny is the central figure, with Rochester, Mabel and Gertrude also taking part, and the program features the usual Lucky Strike commercial. This Jack Benny episode aired on April 17, 1955 on NBC and CBS Radio, with Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris also featured.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
